Clients have included Coordinator Publications, COSSMHO, the Department of Commerce, U.S. Commission on Human Rights, U.S. Department of Education Transition Committee, and numerous non-profits and political candidates.

AAOP is the professional organization representing the interests of 3,500 allied health professionals in the orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) profession. AAOP publishes JPO, a peer reviewed journal as well as other publications including the Academy Today and the Advantage. The organization conducts a number of small education meetings and an annual education conference and exhibit attended by 2000 professionals. The Academy had a federal grant from the Department of Education which supported efforts to increase awareness of the field of O&P and enhance knowledge through education and research. AAOP has an online learning center which allows practitioners to meet their credentialing requirements and enhance their education 24/7. The education mission is to ensure that professionals have the highest level of knowledge and expertise to enable them to provide quality care to their patients.

NAGC is an international association with affiliates in every state and Europe whose mission is to ensure that creatively and intellectually gifted children receive an appropriate education. Membership is made up of teachers, administrators, and parents. NAGC publishes a quarterly journal, a quarterly parent magazine, a newsletter, and other educational materials, and sponsors an annual conference and exhibit hall attended by more than 3,500 people.
In my tenure with NAGC I accomplished the following:

  • Moved the National Office to Washington, DC, hired staff and set up a computer networked office.
  • Built a reserve fund of $4 million through proper management of association programs.
  • Developed a National Advisory Board whose membership includes Governors, State Education Superintendents, members of Congress, and corporate representatives.
  • Developed a positive image for the association on Capitol Hill and with other education groups through planned public relations and new publications.
  • Started a new full color quarterly magazine, Parenting for High Potential.

API is a national association that works through its affiliates to encourage accountants to provide pro bono publico accounting and financial management services to not-for-profit organizations, small businesses, and individuals.

White House Conference on Handicapped Individuals/Implementation Unit

The White House Conference resulted in a multi-point plan demanding action on the federal, state, and local government levels, and in the private sector to improve the position of handicapped individuals in society.

  • Directed work of intra- and inter-agency councils, including high level representatives of over 30 federal agencies and commissions.
  • Conducted national Governors’ Conference and four regional consumer conferences on disability issues.
  • Managed legislative agenda at federal and state levels.
  • Spoke at conferences and seminars in nearly every state.
  • Produced final report on federal progress in the areas of concern to the constituency.

  • Supervised 70 liaison, management, and administrative employees.
